Nursery School
Program Philosophy
It is the Nursery School's philosophy that school and learning should be a time of fun, while discovering and exploring. The school atmosphere encourages freedom of choice within a structured environment. This in turn helps to develop children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth. Children take great pride in accomplishing tasks on their own, therefore we encourage children's independence. Most of what children learn is through direct sensory experiences. We promote learning through free play experiences. We also teach concepts through planned and directed activities. For example, cooking activities may be planned to help the children learn to measure, follow directions, and work in a group.
Daily Program
Our daily schedule is planned and structured, yet flexible to meet the needs of the children. Each day the children enjoy music, movement, art, stories, letter and word games, experiences with numbers, outdoor play (weather permitting), and a snack. Included in our schedule are Creative Movement classes, special visitors, and field trips.
Parental Involvement
The United Methodist Nursery School has an open door policy. Parents are welcome at any time. Come in and read a story with us, bake some cookies, or sing some songs, the children love it and so do we!
